Ohio still fighting Eastern Shawnee land claim
Thursday, March 15, 2007

Ohio Attorney General Marc Dann continues the state's fight against the Eastern Shawnee Tribe's land claim even though he was open to negotiations as a state senator.

The tribe, based in Oklahoma, claims 146 square miles in western Ohio. Some agreements have been reached with local governments to pave the way for gaming.

Dann said he won't let the tate be coerced into settling the claim. But when he was state senator, he supported a $300 million resortt proposed by the tribe.

Dann says the tribe hasn't proved a historical connection to the land.
