Tribes unite for domestic violence awareness

More than 200 people representing six tribes participated in a walk to raise awareness of child abuse, elder abuse and domestic abuse.

The "Tribes United for Victim Awareness" walk covered a total of 40 miles. Members of the Fallon Paiute-Shoshone Tribe, the Walker River Paiute Tribe and other tribes took part.

According the Nevada Attorney General's Office, the states sees more than 13,000 reports of child abuse and more than 3,000 reports annually of elder abuse a year. Domestic violence against Native women is the highest in the nation.
