Another person claims official disparaged tribe

A second person has come forward to claim a county official made disparaging remarks about the Cow Creek Band of the Umpqua Tribe of Indians in Oregon.

Two people say they witnessed Douglas County Commissioner Marilyn Kittelman talk about her ongoing dispute with the tribe. She opposes the tribe's land-into-trust application in downtown Roseburg.

The first witness says Kittelman fired an imaginary gun while having dinner at a local restaurant. "Im fighting Indians. Anyone want to join me?" Kittelman said, according to this witness.

The second witness says Kittelman pretended to be removing arrows from her back. "I been fighting Indians all week," Kittelman said, according to this witness.

The identities of the people are not being reported by The Roseburg News-Review. Their statements were recorded in interviews taped by the tribe, not by the paper.

Kittelman denies making any disparaging comments about the tribe or Native Americans.
