American Indian Cultural Center gets $2.5M


The American Indian Cultural Center has received $2.5 million from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development to start preparations for the $100 million facility in Oklahoma City.

Construction on the center is slated to start later this year. The HUD money will be used prepare the 300-acre site on the Oklahoma River.

The center is expected to open in 2007. Congress authorized $33 million for the project, with the state and tribes raising the rest of the money.
