The Mendota Mdewakanton Dakota Community of Minnesota is expanding its operation in hopes of raising more money.

The tribe's office has grown from 1,000 square feet to 3,000 square feet. The extra space will be used for a trading post, a coffee shop featuring live music and a historical center. The tribe also might try to sell pull-tabs.

The tribe is not federally recognized. Members have been fighting development of a burial site in the Twin Cities.
