Nevada tribe to open arsenic treatment plant

The Fallon Paiute-Shoshone Tribe of Nevada is wrapping up work on an arsenic treatment plant.

The $2 million facility is scheduled to begin operation on February 1. It will be able to handle 500,000 gallons a day.

The plant will reduce the arsenic level in water from around 90 to 120 parts per billion to 10 parts per billion, the federal standard. All homes on the reservation will benefit from the system.
