Vote close on Agua Caliente development plan

Voters in Palm Springs, California, narrowly passed the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians' development plan but the tribe is waiting until all the ballots are in before declaring victory.

Measure U passed by just 119 votes, The Palm Springs Desert Sun reported. Absentee and provisional ballots still need to be counted.

The tribe sought approval for a master plan covering tribal land in downtown Palm Springs. Opponents fear casinos and other large-scale development.
