The Canadian government is asking a court to end a protest that has shuttered a school on the Piapot First Nation in Saskatchewan.

Members of the community shut down the school in protest of an experimental curriculum. Parents were angered that their children were placed in special education and were being taught lower grade levels.

The Department of Indian and Northern Affairs has agreed to evaluate the school but wants the protest to end. Elders are currently handing some teaching duties.
