NARF lawyer assured of victory in trust fund case
Wednesday, September 29, 2004

Keith Harper, a Native American Rights Fund lawyer, spoke to Individual Indian Money (IIM) beneficiaries in Oklahoma on Monday.

Harper said he was confident the plaintiffs will prevail in the eight-year-old case. "We have the facts and the law on our side, and that's everything," he said, according to The Daily Oklahoman.

Earlier this month, an appeals court considered whether the Interior Department and the Bureau of Indian Affairs have lived up to their trust duties. A Bush administration lawyer argued that the government doesn't need court oversight.
