Native artists criticize hospital's sales practices

The Alaska Native Medical Center in Anchorage came under fire at a meeting on Monday for the way its gift shop sells Native arts and crafts.

Native artists said the non-profit shop sells art for too little. They said the practice drives down the price of Native art elsewhere.

Hospital board member said they were surprised by the criticism. The gift shop is run by an all-volunteer auxiliary board.
