Navajo entrepreneurs see potential in tourism

The Dine Tourism Corridor Demonstration Project is helping Navajo tribal members create their own businesses.

Funded by the Small Business Administration's Office of Native American Affairs, the project holds free seminars to educate would-be entrepreneurs who live in two corridors where the potential for tourism is greatest. Navajos hope to tap into the reservation's $70 million tourism industry.

The two corridors are located along major highways. The challenge is to get drivers to stop and check out the reservation, say Navajo entrepreneurs.
