Tribes turn to technology to keep track of fish

Two tribes are using technology in hopes of restoring disappearing species of fish.

The Pyramid Lake Paiute Tribe is working with the Nevada Department of Wildlife on a five-year project aimed at improving runs of the cutthroat trout. Biologists are inserting radio transmitters to learn more about the fish's movements.

The Squaxin Island Indian Tribe of Washington is using sensors to track hatchery-raised salmon. The tribe hopes to understand the spawning habits of the fish.
