Cayuga tribes discussing land claim settlement

The Cayuga Nation of New York and the Seneca-Cayuga Tribe of Oklahoma are discussing a settlement to their 64,000-acre land claim.

The state is proposing to settle the claim for a Cayuga Nation casino in the Catskills. Revenue would be shared with two counties that benefited from the stolen land.

The Seneca-Cayuga's gaming rights do not appear to be part of the deal. The tribe is planning a Class II facility on the former reservation. The Cayuga Nation has been given the green light for its high-stakes bingo hall.
