Northern Ute Tribe considers own school district

The Northern Ute Tribe of Utah is considering creating its own public school district to focus on Indian culture.

Tribal officials say the public school system doesn't fit the needs of Indian students. They are looking for ways to integrate tribal culture, language and history into classroom teachings.

If created, the public school would be open to any student.
