Crow woman challenges new tribal constitution

A member of the Crow Tribe of Montana has filed a lawsuit challenging the legality of the tribe's constitution.

The constitution was adopted in 2001 and has been in dispute ever since. A large contingent of tribal members say it is illegal but the Bureau of Indian Affairs approved it over their objections.

Beverly Huber filed suit in tribal court and says tribal leaders didn't have the authority to develop the new constitution. She is asking a judge to suspend all the top tribal officials until the issue can be resolved.
