Fire threatens Pechanga Reservation in California

For the second year in a row, fires are threatening tribal land in southern California.

The 5,000-acre Eagle Fire started on Sunday and has entered the Pechanga Reservation, where it is threatening tribal archaeological sites. The fire already destroyed an artists colony.

The fire is the second-largest burning in southern California. A man has been arrested for allegedly starting the 10,500-acre Cerritos Fire.

Last fall, fires hit 14 of the 18 reservations in San Diego County. Nearly 30,000 acres of tribal lands were destroyed. On some reservations, nearly every home was lost.
