Tribal member ousted from EPA calls for oversight

Robert Martin, a member of the Makah Nation of Washington, says the Environmental Protection Agency needs an independent ombudsman to keep the government in line.

Martin quit two years ago because he said a reorganization of his office would render it useless. He had served for ten years and said he uncovered problems during both Republican and Democrat administrations.

A bill pending in Congress seeks to recreate the independent ombudsman position but is stalled in the House.
