Pueblo woman raising funds to cover heart operation

A woman from San Ildefonso Pueblo in New Mexico is raiding funds to cover costs associated with her recent heart surgery.

Renee Roybal, 45, suffered from a viral infection that required replacement of her heart. She underwent a successful transplant at the University of California Los Angeles and continues to travel there for regular checkups.

Insurance covers Roybal's hospital visits and part of her $1,000 monthly prescription drug bill but not her travel expenses and other expenses incurred for the operation. To raise money, she is holding fundraisers, including The Heart and Soul Run, which will take place Saturday at the pueblo.
