Residents mixed on tribe's Palm Springs development

Officials in Palm Springs, California, held an informational session on Thursday to discuss the Agua Caliente Tribe's plans to create an entertainment district.

The tribe owns trust land in the city known as Section 14. The tribe has authority to use the land as it pleases but has sought extensive local and federal review for redevelopment of the area.

But residents say they are concerned about plans for hotels, a theme park and a possible casino. The Palm Springs Desert Sun, in an editorial, urges people to keep an open mind about the project. "Educate yourself. If you still disagree, make your case based on fact, not half truths."
