Brazilian hospitals ordered to respect Indian culture


Public hospitals near Indian villages in Brazil to respect Indian culture when delivering babies for women of the Guarani Tribe.

Hospitals will allow tribal midwives to assist in the delivery and will ensure that expectant mothers receive a traditional diet. Hospitals will also preserve the placenta, considered an important item in tribal culture.
