County rejects Buena Vista casino agreement

printer friendly
Supervisors in Amador County, California, killed a casino agreement with the Buena Vista Rancheria of Me-Wuk Indians on Tuesday.

The board debated whether to accept the deal, which comes with $18 million up front, plus about $8 million a year in gaming revenues. But they deadlocked 2-2 on the issue.

The vote means the county will continue a lawsuit against the Interior Department. The county claims the tribe was not properly recognized and that the rancheria cannot be used for gaming.
