The Mohegan Tribe of Connecticut was awarded one of five slot machine licenses by the state of Pennsylvania.
The new Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs will be the first racetrack to offer slot machines. The facility is scheduled to open with 1,000 slots in November but a much larger casino with space for 2,000 machines is in the works.
The tribe operates the successful Mohegan Sun casino on its reservation and is working with tribes in Wisconsin and Washington on gaming projects.
