The Republican and Democratic candidates for governor of Florida say they will negotiate Class III compacts.
The Seminole Tribe and the Miccosukee Tribe asked outgoing Gov. Jeb Bush (R) to negotiate after voters legalized slot machines in one county. But Bush never agreed to a compact with either tribe.
Republican Charlie Crist and Democrat Jim Davis promise a different take. Both say they are willing to negotiate a compact in exchange for revenues or other concessions.
The tribes, meanwhile, have asked the Interior Department to approve Class III procedures. The request is pending.
