Tribal casinos in southern California are trying hard to attract a younger, hip crowd that might be found at some of the trendiest Las Vegas spots.
With top acts like Jamie Foxx, Ludacris and Nine Inch Nails, some of the casinos appears to be succeeding. It might cost a little more to bring the talent in, but the tribes are willing to pay for it.
The efforts haven't been without some growing pains. The Morongo Band of Mission Indians opened a splashy $250 million casino with some trendy clubs and venues that had some trouble getting off the ground.
But under new management from the famous Key Club in Los Angeles, the Key Club at Morongo has been booking some big names and has provided an alternative for locals. "This is the best place around here," a 27-year-old told The Los Angeles Times.
