The House voted 317-93 to pass a bill that seeks to curb the growing Internet gaming industry.
H.R.4411 bars the use of electronic payments to online gambling sites. It updates the Wire Act of 1961 to specifically prohibit the use of the Internet to transmit bets.
Exclusions are provided for state and Indian gaming. According to a report accompanying the bill, "transactions solely within Tribal lands complying with similar security requirements and the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act will not be considered unlawful."

Senate Republicans plan to take up a similar measure sponsored by Sen. Jon Kyl (R-Arizona).
