The Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation of Connecticut celebrated the 20th anniversary of its entry into Indian gaming.
In 1986, the tribe opened a high-stakes bingo hall with just 22 employees. Long lines quickly formed and paved the way for the Foxwoods Resort Casino, one of the most profitable gaming facilities in the world that employees more than 10,000 people.
To mark the occasion, the tribe gave away $1 million and more than $100,000 in cash and other prizes.
