The Bureau of Indian Affairs is taking comments on gaming land acquisition for the Nottawaseppi Huron Band of Potawatomi Indians in Michigan.

The tribe is seeking to acquire 79 acres for a casino project in Calhoun County. The tribe qualifies under the newly recognized tribes exception in the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act.

The BIA is taking comments until July 31, 2006. A federal judge is overseeing the decision because casino opponents filed a lawsuit.

The final environmental impact statement on the project can be found at http://www.huronfeis.com
