The National Indian Gaming Commission issued a notice of violation against the Puyallup Tribe of Washington on Monday.
NIGC Chairman Phil Hogen said tribe violated the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act. The tribe is misallocating gaming revenues because it is not in compliance with its revenue allocation plan (RAP), according to the agency [Notice of Violation].
"Our primary goal in this case is to encourage the tribe to come into compliance with the approved RAP," said Hogen. "Once compliance is achieved, the tribe will have the ability to provide funding for vital programs and generations to come."
RAPs must be submitted for approval by the Bureau of Indian Affairs. The NIGC investigated the tribe's compliance earlier this year.
