The town council in Johnston, Rhode Island, passed a resolution that calls for a local vote on a casino proposed by gaming mogul Donald Trump.
The resolution asks state lawmakers to put the issue on the November ballot. Lawmakers already have been asked by the town of West Warwick to do the same, for a casino proposed by the Narragansett Tribe.
In order for Trump or the tribe to open a casino, the state constitution needs to be changed. Some people are advocating that the process be opened up to multiple proposals instead of considering just the tribe's.
