A bill directing the Interior Department to acquire land in trust for the Puyallup Tribe's casino in Fife, Washington, is ready for President Bush's signature.
H.R.374 passed the House on Tuesday. S.1382, the Senate version, also passed on Tuesday.
The tribe is currently operating the Emerald Queen Casino & Hotel on fee land within the limits of Fife. The tribe will continue to pay property taxes and a hotel-motel tax to the city.
The trust land acquisition is mandatory, not discretionary.
