Eastern Shawnee chief heads to Ohio for gaming

Charles Enyart, the chief of the Eastern Shawnee Tribe of Oklahoma, is headed to Ohio to promote the tribe's casino plans there.

Enyart will meet with media outlets, local officials and residents in Lima today. The city is one of several sites the tribe is eyeing for casinos. On Friday, Enyart heads to eastern Ohio for more meetings.

The tribe filed a land claim in Ohio and says it will settle for gaming. Under proposed amendments to the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act that were approved by the Senate Indian Affairs Committee, tribes will not be able to utilize land claim settlements for casinos.
