The Skokomish Tribe of Washington is asking the state to consider a casino at or near the site of a proposed NASCAR track.
The tribe operates a casino on the reservation and is seeking to expand its offerings there. The tribe also wants to open gaming sites off the reservation, citing a a similar deal the state recently signed with the Spokane Tribe for an off-reservation casino.
International Speedway Corp., the NASCAR organization, is proposing a $300 million facility south of the Bremerton National Airport. A company executive said a tribal casino could be a good fit with the facility as long as it is supported by the state and local community.
