The Bureau of Indian Affairs on Monday approved a Michigan tribe's land-into-trust request for gaming purposes.
The Match-E-Be-Nash-She-Wish Band of Pottawatomi Indians plans to use 147 acres in western Michigan for a casino. The facility would include 2,500 slot machines, restaurants and an entertainment venue.
The land-into-trust application has been the subject of litigation but all challenges have been rejected in the courts. The tribe still needs state approval for its gaming compact.
