Members of the Eastern Band of Cherokees received a $7,000 per capita payment from the North Carolina tribe's successful casino.
The tribe makes two payments a year to approximately 13,000 members. The payments represent half of the casino profits, according to Scripps Howard News Service. The rest are funneled to governmental programs.
The tribe is seeking to expand games at the casino to include poker.
