Minnesota tribes blast GOP's gaming ads

Minnesota tribes are criticizing the state Republican party for radio ads that urge voters to support revenue-sharing compacts.

There are no tribal gaming issues on the November 2 ballot but the ads will be aired before the election. Tribal leaders said the ads pits voters against Indians.

The radio ads state: "Tribal casinos are one of Minnesota's largest industries … but casinos pay virtually nothing to the state" and "Vote Republican on Tuesday, November second." They urge voters to back Gov. Tim Pawlenty (R) who wants tribes to pay $350 million a year in revenues or lose their exclusive rights to Class III gaming.
