Partner of firm handling land claim tapped by state

A partner of the law firm handling the Delaware Nation's land claim in Pennsylvania has been tapped to head the state's gaming commission.

Thomas A. "Tad" Decker will step down from the Cozen O'Connor firm. He says he was not involved in the tribe's claim against the federal government for 315 acres.

The gaming commission will decide who gets the 14 slot machine licenses approved by the state legislature. The Delaware Nation, along with the Delaware Tribe, wanted one of the licenses but were rebuffed by Gov. Ed Rendell (D), who appointed Decker after an earlier choice dropped out. Some Republicans complained about the connection.
