California Legislature to vote on new compacts

The California Legislature is voting today on new tribal-state gaming compacts.

Five tribes signed agreements calling for them to finance a $1 billion bond package to bail out the state. In addition, the tribes will share a percentage of slot machine revenues with the state in exchange for unlimited slots.

Lawmakers are expected to approve the deals, according to Copley News Service.
