The Narragansett Tribe got a step closer to opening a casino in Rhode Island with the approval of two bills to put the issue on the November ballot.
Voters will be asked:
"Shall there be a casino in the town of West Warwick operated by an affiliate of Harrah's Entertainment in association with the Narragansett Indian Tribe?"
The bills set out how much the tribe and partner Harrah's Entertainment will pay for the right to open a casino. The payments include a $100 million license fee, a hotel tax and 25 percent to 40 percent of slot machine revenues, depending on how much the casino earns.
