The Louisiana House approved a bill requiring the governor to notify lawmakers and local officials of any gaming compact negotiations.
The bill arose when former governor Mike Foster (D) negotiated an agreement with the Jena Band of Choctaw Indians. The compact became public only after it had been submitted to the Bureau of Indian Affairs for approval.
The bill goes on to the Senate for consideration.
