Oklahoma tribes meet with anti-gaming lawmaker

Leaders of several tribes met with Oklahoma State Rep. Forrest Claunch (R) on Friday to discuss their opposition to the tribal-state gaming compact.

The Sac and Fox, Seminole, Absentee-Shawnee, Alabama Quassarte, Iowa, Apache and United Keetowah tribes attended the meeting, according to news reports. The tribes say only large tribes will benefit from the compact, which legalizes certain electronic casino machines in exchange for revenue-sharing.

Claunch is leading the effort to have the compact defeated at the polls this November. But leaders of the large tribes think they have enough voter support to get it approved.
