Yellow Bird: Hard to find Indian like Martha Stewart

"In all the isolated, poverty-stricken reservations I've been to - and I've been to many reservations in this nation - I've never met a person like Martha Stewart. In fact, it's safe to say that finding someone like her on a reservation would be like finding a golden needle in an acre of haystacks. Most reservations don't grow people like the perfectionist, driven diva of homemaking. Few set tables of fine crystal and expensive china like she does. The very thought of tall, crystal glasses and $2,000 place settings on a humble kitchen table with mismatched chairs brings a smile. But Indians, like other Americans, did enjoy listening, watching and sometimes learning of her ways. They were fun and beat the heck out of some of the violent cop programs and all of the new reality shows. Some people I've talked to snickered at first when she was found guilty the other day.
