Cobell to discuss settlement at conference in New Mexico
Elouise Cobell, the lead plaintiff in the Indian trust fund lawsuit, will discuss the $3.4 billion settlement to the case at the Federal Bar Association Indian Law Conference next week.

Cobell, a member of the Blackfeet Nation of Montana, will appear on the panel on Thursday, April 8. Joining her will be Hilary Tompkins, the Solicitor of the Interior Department, who helped negotiate the settlement.

Also due to present are plaintiffs' attorney Bill Dorris; Michael Finley, the chairman of the Intertribal Monitoring Association on Indian Trust Funds and the chairman of the Confederated Tribes of the Colville Reservation of Washington; and Richard Monette, a professor at the University of Wisconsin Law School.

The conference takes place April 8-9 at Pojoaque Pueblo in New Mexico.
