The Obama administration is making a "major" announcement regarding Indian trust issues today in Washington, D.C.
Interior Secretary Ken Salazar, Attorney General Eric Holder,
Deputy Interior Secretary David Hayes and Associate Attorney General Tom Perrelli will appear at a press conference at the Interior Department at 10:30am. Officials would not provide more details about the announcement.
The federal government faces more than two dozen lawsuits and two class actions regarding the management of trust assets held for individual Indians and tribal governments. During the campaign, President Barack Obama said he would seek an equitable resolution to the litigation.
