Comanche Nation to honor Code Talkers

The Comanche Nation of Oklahoma will hold a performance on Saturday to honor the contributions of its Code Talkers.

During World War II, 17 Comanche soldiers used their language to create an unbreakable code. The "Crying Spirit, Mona Pehta" performance is dedicated in their memory.

The performance takes place at the McMahon Memorial Auditorium and will be repeated twice. Admission is free.

Separately, the National Museum of the American Indian is hosting a traveling exhibit, "Hidden Voices, Coded Words," about the Code Talkers. It will be on display at the Oklahoma History Center in Oklahoma City until January 15.
