Sandy White Hawk founded the First Nations Orphan Association to connect Indians who were adopted with their tribal roots.
White Hawk, 52, was adopted at a young age. She reunited with her Rosebud Sioux family 33 years after being placed in a non-Indian home.
Now the St. Paul resident helps other adoptive Indians find their families. She recently went to Alaska with a 47-year-old Yupik man so he could meet his relatives for the first time.
