Fort Peck Tribes sign child welfare agreement

The Fort Peck Tribes of Montana signed a child welfare agreement aimed at improving foster care services on the reservation.

The tribes, the state of Montana and the Bureau of Indian Affairs will collaborate on foster care cases. The goal is to keep Indian children within the tribe under the Indian Child Welfare Act.

Currently, about 100 children on the reservation are in foster care. Officials want to bring that number down.
