The Department of Justice looked at the financial records of Sen. Conrad Burns (R-Montana) and two former staffers as part of the Jack Abramoff investigation, the Roll Call newspaper reported.

Burns has denied being a subject of the investigation but one of the former staffers said he has been contacted by DOJ and is cooperating. Both staffers left Congress to work at Abramoff's law firm.

DOJ looked at the financial records of at least eight other members of Congress -- including Republicans Tom DeLay of Texas, John Doolittle of California and Bob Ney of Ohio -- and at least five other staffers, Roll Call said.
