A member of the Meskwaki Tribe of Iowa has decided not to give up her baby son to a non-Indian couple.
Kelly Buffalo, 22, said she has bonded with Braven, who is 3 months old. "'It's been a couple of weeks since I started thinking through more and more about keeping him," she told the Associated Press.
But Buffalo is still upset that the Meskwaki Tribe intervened in the case when she tried to give her son to a non-Indian couple. She said the Indian Child Welfare Act gives the tribe too much power.
