The family of Lori Piestewa, the Hopi woman killed in action in Iraq, were overjoyed on Tuesday after receiving the keys to their new home.
The 4,300-square-foot home, valued at $500,000, is the gift of the ABC television show "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition." Jessica Lynch, Lori's roommate and best friend in the Army, nominated the family for the program.
The home, located in Flagstaff, was built in less than a week by a crew of 1,300. The San Manuel Band of Mission Indians from California paid $180,000 for the 6-acre site. Separately, a veterans center was built in Tuba City on the Navajo Nation.
The Piestewa's story will air on the season finale of the show on May 22.
