The family of Lori Piestewa, the Hopi soldier who died in Iraq, and her friend, ex-POW Jessica Lynch, will be the guests of honor at the Crow Tribe's Native Days events.
Piestewa's family and Lynch will attend the of the new Veterans Commemorative Park on the Crow Reservation. The dedication takes place on Friday.
Piestewa and Lynch were roommates and belonged to the Army unit ambushed in the Iraqi desert on March 23, 2003. Both suffered injuries during the attack. Piestewa later died at an Iraqi hospital while Lynch survived. Lynch has said the real hero during the ordeal was Piestewa.
